UAL International Postgraduate £14,000 Scholarships for African and Latin American Students

 The University of the Arts London (UAL) is offering up to 32 scholarships worth £14,000 each as a tuition fee waiver for eligible full-time or part-time master’s courses starting in 2025/26. This opportunity is open to students from Africa and Latin America, helping them pursue postgraduate studies at one of UAL’s prestigious Colleges and Institutes.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Course Offer – You must hold an offer for a full-time or part-time taught master’s course (Grad Dip, M ARCH, MA, MBA, MFA, MRes, or MSc) at a UAL College or Institute. UAL Online courses are not eligible.

    • You cannot apply if you already hold a UK postgraduate qualification (or equivalent).

  2. Residency – You must be domiciled in an eligible African or Latin American country (see full list below). If your country is not listed, you may qualify for the UAL International Postgraduate £7,000 Scholarship instead.

  3. Academic Achievement – You must have (or be predicted to achieve) an upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent). Recognised international qualifications are accepted—check the International Academic Qualifications Equivalency for details.

    • Submit transcripts (or predicted grades if results are pending).

  4. Personal Statement – A 350-word response per question addressing:

    • Your background and academic experience.

    • How the scholarship will make a difference to you.

    • How you plan to use the qualification for your future goals.

    • Any other funding sources you have applied for.

  5. Reference – A personal reference (academic or professional) submitted in English.

Africa: Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (DRC & Republic), Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, São Tomé & Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Latin America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela.

Application Process

  • Once you receive a UAL course offer, the ‘my funding’ section in your applicant portal will open in mid-January 2025 with the scholarship application form.

  • Deadlines:

    • Round 1: 21 March 2025 (decisions by mid-May)

    • Round 2: 22 June 2025 (decisions by 31 July)

  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. If unsuccessful in Round 1, you cannot reapply in Round 2.

Award Details

  • Successful applicants will receive an email award letter and must accept via the UAL Portal.

  • The £14,000 fee waiver will be applied directly to tuition fees.

  • For part-time/extended full-time courses, any surplus funds will cover Year 2 fees.

Additional Information

  • Scholarships are awarded based on application merit.

  • You can only hold one UAL scholarship at a time.

  • Separate applications are needed for the £14,000 and £7,000 scholarships.
